Exigence Hospital Partners Ranked Among the Best Values in the Nation

The Buffalo Niagara region is ranked as the nation’s best market for the value of hospital care by Data Advantage LLC in its first Hospital Value Index. Six of the nation’s Top 100 hospitals— St. Joseph Hospital (17), Mercy Hospital of Buffalo (24), Kenmore Mercy Hospital (25), Sisters of Charity Hospital (43), Erie County Medical Center (49) and Mount St. Mary’s Hospital (73)—are contracted with the Exigence LLC for emergency department and/or hospitalist management and delivery programs.

“We’re proud to have been chosen by some of the nation’s finest hospitals as a partner,” said Dr. Gregory Daniel, CEO, Exigence LLC. “The rankings reflect our commitment to providing the highest quality of care for patients in the most efficient and cost effective manner.” Since contracting with Exigence, the hospitals’ key indicators, such as length of stay and patient satisfaction, have improved.

According to a recent Buffalo News article (pdf link below), the survey balances quality with affordability. It is based on how efficiently the hospitals operate, the satisfaction of their patients, and the hospitals’ local reputations. The Data Advantage index is one of several efforts nationwide to measure and report the quality of medical care in an attempt to encourage improvements in healthcare delivery systems by letting consumers and providers see how they measure up.

Data Advantage’s rankings combine data on quality and patient safety from established government and other public sources, with hospital costs and charges, patient satisfaction scores, and the reputation of the hospital measured by public perception.
